Hope you like the EU song we produced on the eve of the 2009 elections to the European Parliament in a way that appeals to young audiences.

All the materials are part of the activities promoted by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the University of Leeds, and the JMECE Lab, at the Institute of Communications Studies. Please fell free to distribute the Rap among peers.

Plus a note for the UK citizens and furthermore for the voters in Humberside.

This is an election where voting will matter. So perhaps we could encourage our friends, neighbours, family and colleagues at work to vote and pass on the message. Here in Humberside, do we want to be represented by the BNP?

There is a real threat, under this proportional representation election, that the BNP might win a seat and gain the platform and legitimacy of being among Britain’s elected representatives in the European Parliament.

In Yorkshire & Humber, they will take a seat off Labour if they get more than half of Labour’s share of the vote. Their candidate,  Andrew Brons, is a former leader of the National Front and an open admirer of Hitler. If you want to be represented by someone else, it matters that you go and vote.

Many people think that European elections don’t matter. They do. It is our elected representatives in the European Parliament who determine the shape of environmental, consumer protection and much social legislation, as well as having a major influence on matters relating to trade, international development and other issues.

  1. Hehe, nice work, Stergios.

Have you seen “Flight of the Concords”? Similar musical japery, but with less of a political bent.

I’m not sure your two are quite rhythme masters, yet - but full points for effort! :-D
