A second opinion why the European Elections are important.
Luisa is studying in Bremen arts and culture. The twenty four old student knows that she will go to the elections on 7th June for the European Parliament, because she is interested in politics and thinks that you should use the possibility to participate in politics. “What in Europe happens is important”, says Lena.
What Europe concrete means, is hard for her to define. For Lena it is natural, because she grew up in Europe. One peculiarity of Europe are the different cultures, the variety and the diversity that can be found in Europe. Less important are politics and languages for Lena in Europe. She emphasizes that we can experience Europe easily. She took part in European work camps and studied one year in Barcelona supported by the Erasmus programme. For the future Lena imagines Europe more united. With regard to global powers like China and the U.S. Lena wishes that Europe appears more united in order to be able to compete with the big players and to survive beside them.
“One peculiarity of Europe are the different cultures, the variety and the diversity that can be found in Europe. Less important are politics and languages for Lena in Europe.”
Damn. There was I thinking that language was an integral part of culture and diversity. How stupid of me.
