I’m not sure if somebody has already posted the information about the official videos of the European Parliament elections 2009, but as I tried to find and didn’t manage, I thought about mentioning them myself.
What were your first associations and thoughts when you saw it? Horror movie? Stupid advertisement about some women products? Something else?
But the answer is one - this and the rest of the videos, which you can watch on EP official YouTube channel hope to encourage different people to go and vote on 4-7th June. “Voting is for everyone,” they are saying - also for those with stressed, weird or some other kind of unusual lifestyle.
Doesn’t convince me anyway. Sorry. Seems like a big joke rather than a serious PR campaign.
They’ve been around here before.
On the one hand I agree, they seem to miss the point, however, on the other hand I think it is good that the EP is trying to catch up with the world in terms of applying new campaigning techniques. The one with the bikers is a little clearer.
But then again, if they are really meant as virals, I don’t suppose they ought to be published on their official channel.
definitely too much screaming for my taste. so, the second one full of fear, horror…Badiou might comment this as a production of fear and terror…Doesn’t convince me either
I prefer this video which has been realised by the EC:
How representative will the European elections be?

What do you think about quotas and gender balnce?
Interesting video, haven’t seen it before - thanks, Ana!
What is the measure of success? Whether we euro-afficionados (or others) like it or whether it gets seen, discussed and remembered by a lot of people who otherwise might not even realise that elections are coming?
I am intrigued actually that so few people seem to recognise it for what it is: a knowing wink towards one of the great clichés of popular culture.
@Mats Don’t you have the feeling that one reason this could go viral is precisely because people are surprised that it comes from the EP?
@Ana Sorry, well made, but that one’s rather too worthy for my taste. Would you watch it twice?
@Anita Latvian media picked this up today: http://www.diena.lv/lat/politics/hot/ep-uzruna-veletajus-ar-divainiem-videoklipiem
