Votematch

The English comedian/author/tv host/commentator Stephen Fry launched the webpage www.votematch.co.uk in the Apple store some weeks ago and he compared it to a dating page. I guess it is, a political dating page, and I am glad that the page decided to go for the candidate that I “fancied” the most.

A bit more than a week to go before the election in United Kingdom, and it seems that some of the smaller parties will get a lot of votes. The reason being, as you news addicts will know, that the British parliarment as been hit by an “expenses” scandal and many commentators believe that it will affect the election. Parties like UKIP (UK inderpendent party) = BNP in a suit, will probably gain a lot of votes from it - lets hope not.

Yesterday was the first real coverage of the EU election on BBC, still waiting for the newspapers to cover it.

The election started in some countries today, so to everyone; GO AND VOTE!

  1. Hi, Mads!

UKIP? BNP in a suit? Hmmm… not sure I agree.

On the more extreme fringes of UKIP, there does seem to be some spill-over into the BNP. I’ve talked to UKIP supporters who have considered voting BNP. But UKIP is not an extremist neo-facist party.

I’m thankful that the BNP isn’t going to be the big winner of the expenses scandal. UKIP and the Greens seem to be doing better.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not happy that UKIP will be getting so many votes. But they’re not the BNP in suits. For one thing, the BNP are already the National Front in suits. :D For another, UKIP are a one-issue party campaigning on the EU, whereas the BNP are a one-issue party campaigning on race and immigration.
