Catchy slogans present another aspect of political campaigning with which political parties address their potential voters. Usually they attract people’s attention if they are inventive and different. In the case of the EP elections, they can also reveal if the parties bother more with the national or EU aspects. Let’s see what kind of slogans Slovenian political parties chose for these elections!
Coalition
SD: The slogan of Social Democrats supports a social nature of EU:
“We, people, are the first!”
LDS: Liberal Democracy of Slovenia offers you decisive, careful, diligent, careful or skillful pair gloves with which you can handle EU:
“We will wear gloves when dealing with EU. Decisively, by respecting the rules”

ZARES: Zares invented a slogan which derives from the party’s name (in English: for real), which can also makes you think that until now Slovenia was only messing around with the EU issues, khm.
“Let’s take Europe for real!”
DESUS: The Pensioner’s Party tries to involve into its campaign all the generations:
“For social Europe, for all generations”
Opposition
SDS: The biggest oppositional Social Democrats are convinced that the coalition has not done enough in times of financial crisis and they think that:
“Slovenia can do more!”
Female voice: “What do you think when you see more and more unemployed?”
Male voice: “Slovenia can do more!”
SLS: Slovenian People’s Party reveals you a big secret:
“Europe begins in Slovenia”
SNS: Slovenian National Party actually does not care about EP elections; for now they do not have a recognizable slogan and according to the news there political campaign is focused only on direct meetings with potential voters.
(Btw, I sent to the party some questions regarding party’s involvement into the EP elections, but for now I have got no response.)
Non-Parliamentary Parties
NSi: Through the hills and valleys to the most remote places with the NSi bus their candidates want to come:
“Close to People”
SMS (Youth Party): Youth Party tries to convince you that it is time to:
“Say no to exploitation”
They use official video clip of European Green Party for the needs of campaigning:
* There are some other groups which will also participate in the elections, but they are not going to dedicate financial means into campaigning (I attached their web sites with the candidate lists):
KSS (Christian Socialists)

Independent List for Patients’ Rights

United Greens: This is a coalition of Greens of Slovenia, The List for Clean Water, Green Progress and Green Party (I was not able to find the web site). Through all these names, voters can imagine what Lorca meant with: verde que te quiero verde!
Did any of the slogans convince you or do you, as some of Slovenian marketing experts, think that the parties do not take this campaign very seriously?
