A couple of days ago the Bulgarian ComDos (which is actually a short name of the Committee for disclosure of the Documents and announcing affiliation of Bulgarian citizens to the State Security and the intelligence services of the Bulgarian National Army) unveiled the names ot 7 MEP candidates who are running on the EU elections (Art. 26. (1) Establishment of belonging to the bodies under Art. 1 is required for: persons registered on election commissions to participate in elections for President and Vice President, Members of the National Assembly and the European Parliament, mayors and municipal councilors). And guess what: one of them is a CURRENT MEMBER OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT!
This is Mr. Evgeni Kirilov, part of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament. He is now Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Regional Development and Member of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence.
There is no legal reason Mr. Kirilov to be banned from participation in the EU Elections since there is no court trial against him. So now it’s a matter of how you perceive such persons. Kirilov was agent of First Head Directorate - the foreign intelligence institution. He was one of those people who might have shaken your hand while they’re observing you and your ideas. thank you so much!
Than’s not my MEP.
I believe an example and a parallel with the Nazi Stasi archives would not be inappropriate. But what happened after the Stasi files were unveiled? “Trials of former Stasi members went on for some time in Germany. Allegations continued in political spheres, in turn, affecting some of the members of parliament. Since the files were opened, investigations were conducted throughout the government. Many were cleared; however, some representatives were convicted and lost their spot in the Bundestag”, says the Stasi article in Wikipedia.
None of these actions have taken place in Bulgaria yet. And now the governing party is trying to send once again an “agent” to the EP. Are you okay with that? Is that your MEP?

Evgeni Kirilov’s belonging to the security services of the communist regime was known even before he was elected as MEP in 2007. Then the Socialist party refused to withdraw his candidacy signaling that it is yet to be fully reformed. It’s now up to the people to show their discontent with such a candidate on June 7th!
