And the Award goes to…

First off: I have not had the honour to encounter any EP-campaign efforts whatsoever in the Netherlands yet. Hereby, I’m not counting the sighting of one of the official EP-campaign posters since it was gone already after a week (budget constraints?) and really, could they have printed the date of the elections even smaller?
Besides this, I have not yet been presented with any reason to go vote, in the case I had not already been planning to do so; lately I’m having a hard time to convince my family why they actually should do so. “Look at this apple. Just imagine how many European laws are between the sowing of a small apple seed in Southern Spain by Gregori from Poland and you eating this apple in the Netherlands.”

Condoms, funny...

Condoms, funny...

However, apparently the parties are trying to get them involved: according to one of our major newspapers, all kinds of gifts are being handed out by the Euro-politicians to increase their popularity. The one I would like to nominate for the already fiercely coveted (Departing VVD MEP Jules Maaten was allegedly overheard saying “I would do anything to win it!”, while giving away pocket-ventilators with the text “fan of Europe”) “Most-Ridiculous-Campaign-Effort” Award: a condom distributed by GroenLinks, accompanied by the line “Ik heb zin in Europese Gemeenschap”, which can be loosely translated to, “I feel like doing it European Style”.

Hereby, I call upon you to share with us your own nominees

Post them in the comments or send me a message at the Th!nk-platform; shortly stating the what & why of your nomination, along with a picture if available. Around election-time a completely independent jury will pick the winner.
