
Below are a few Europe-themed articles that I’ve found interesting over the last few days - and I thought I’d share …
1) Timothy Garton Ash’s Guardian comment piece on why the EU will be the missing power in this week’s G20 meeting: “Europe has spent the last 10 years failing to get its act together. The US and China may end up carrying on as a G2.”
2) Millionaire Stuart Wheeler has abandoned the Conservative Party, to which he has donated £5 million in the past, and is donating his money to UKIP instead. Today he was kicked out of the Tory party as a result.
3) Here in the Times, Wheeler explains why he thinks the “EU is a disaster worse than the recession”.
4) From BBC News, Obama comes to Europe: “The new president might find that his honeymoon with Europe is about to bump up against the realities of day-to-day life.”
And finally, I don’t know how popular Jamie Oliver is in the rest of Europe, but take a look at this. Extremly biased, but very succinctly (and humorously) sums up the British tabloids’ view of the EU in a neat little YouTube clip:
