You might wonder who Dan Jørgensen is, or maybe you are a big time super European Union geek and know that he is one of the Danish members of the European Parliament. You maybe know Poul Nyrup better, he is also Danish and the President of the Party of European Socialists. He is also the Head of delegation for the Danish Social Democrats, however next year Dan Jørgensen will take over his position.
And how well will he fare? Poul Nyrup was former prime minister of Denmark when he ran in 2004 and had been it for eight years. He was well-known all over Denmark. Dan Jørgensen on the other hand is born in 1975, just a few years before Poul Nyrup became a member of the Danish Parliament. So, how well will this young politician fare in the election this summer. He is up against strong competition because most of the other Danish parties have selected “famous a-list celebs/politicians” to run for them.
Dan Jørgensen is not that well-known in Denmark and that is even though he is probably one of the most active Danish MEP. He has been very active on all environmental issues in the European Union, however that is not what win the votes in Denmark. He has now started to focus even more on the economy and Europe’s international role in the future, it might be a bit better for him because it will put him in the spotlight. Nevertheless, he is facing a massive challenge.
I think he got one major advantage though; he is young and up-beat. So, if the Danish youth party get people to vote this up-coming election, they might vote for a person who updates his facebook profile 3-4 times a day and who is developing his webpage at the moment. Dan Jørgensen uses his blog to take in a lot of suggestions from his “friends” and it will be interesting to follow how he can use that during the campaign.
Does Dan Jørgensen blog in English? It might be useful to link to his blog, a picture, or a video of him giving a speech so people can get a sense of what he is about - other than young and active on environmental issues.

This is the only in English, the problem arises with every single MEP that they tend to spread their views in their native language. However, I know that Dan Jørgensen will have an updated webpage in the future and he might incorporate a blog in English
Many thanks
