We still do not know if people will go to vote in June, but at least, those European elections are provoking a few changes in the different political organizations in France. Little sum up and one poll.
On the very right:
The famous Front National (the leader is Jean-Marie Le Pen who was on the second turn of the Presidential elections in 2002) has a new competitor: Le Parti de la France (The party of France). Created few days ago, the leader of this party is Carl Lang, a former member of the Front National. Why this split? This guy wanted to lead the party but Jean-Marie Le Pen prefers to see his daughter at this job. So, Carl Lang is now taking the opportunity offer by the European elections to get some legitimacy. His main idea? An Europe of nations, with sovereign states.
On the right:
Rama Yade, the state secretary for Human Rights says that she will participate at the campaign in the region Ile de France (Paris’ region). She will be on the list but with no chance to be elected. Just for fun?
Still on the right:
The party “Chasse, pêche, nature et traditions” (Hunting, Fishing, Nature and Traditions – A rural party, a “bit” traditionalist) has decided to run for the elections. Get ready!
On the left:
It seems that the Socialist party is going to adopt the charter which I talked in my former article. Was it really so complicated to find a compromise?
According to the last poll, French people would vote like that:
- UMP (Sarkozy’ party): 26%
- Socialist Party: 23%
- MoDem (Center, François Bayrou): 14,5%
- NPA (Kind of communist): 9%
- Front National (very right): 6%
- Libertas (leaded by Philippe de Villiers, very traditionnalist politician): 5%
- PCF (French Communist Party) : 4%
- Lutte ouvrière (Another communist party…): 3%
- Debout la République (Stand up Republic ! – Right): 2%
- Parti de la France (Party of France): 0,5%
Not sure that everyone will get a seat…And the interesting point is that only the first three party are in favor of the European Union like it is and more integration (63,5% of votes). All the others are against the EU, or what to change everything (A socialist Europe, An Europe of Nations or NO EUROPE AT ALL !).
Hello Jean-Seb
What about the Green party? I don’t find it in your list.
The Green movements decided to ‘merge’, just for this election in a “Rassemblement Europe Ecologie” around Daniel Cohn-Bendit, José Bové and friends of Nicolas Hulot.
No polls for them?
