Design, one way to promote Elections 09

I think, I thought and I willl think. Why ? Because I’m European th!nker. (I hope with little levity, you know)

Weather in Czech republic is cold, it’s consequenlty to mood of people. Evereyone must go to work each day of week (without Saturday and Sunday, of course). After daily information from media (TV, newspaper, radio) about the “World’s Recession” and also “Europe Recession”, I don´t be supprised that somebody is snarky.

note: It’s specialty our nation: If weather is cold, we will say “Oh, today is very cold, I hate it” and swap it. If weather is warm, we will say “Hmm, today is ver warm, I am forwarding to winter”.Do you see the different? No ? Of course, no different. We often see the worst thing of this subject. And that’s not fact of last five, ten or twenty-five years. We had some piece of information coded in our gene. That’s historicall fact, because our state is situtated in heart of Europe (I hope so ;). Many countries either want our place (by war) or it was the best way from North to South (or East to West). Nowadays we are only result of mixture generation mood, thinking or position.

When I went by tram yesterday, I was thinking about campaign Parliamentary Elections. For example, I will give you typicall Czech middle age man, with average earn (~600 EUR). He has typical opinion to EU (No, my answer is no, if you can give me the question. Example is not Vaclav Klaus). Mr. Novak is thinking, that Brussels (head of EU) is full bureaucratically city, where live overpay (means people with big salary) stiff clerks. I have quite similiar opinion, but not so skeptic (I am younger than him ;-)

I think, that our country is not interested in European Affaires, despite 76% Czech people feel as European. (english article)  We are satiety our rotten national policy and presume that the same situations is may be in Brussels.
note: Czech politics don’t policy for people and service them. They do policy for increase their amount of money in wallets.

Last week, I opened my favorite web pages about design, movie, graphic, dtp, etc. and I found out interesting article. Respekt institut has started challenge about the best graphic design on T-Shirt. That indepedent campaign is created to promote attendance young voters at Parliamentary Elections 2009.

vybiram siProject name “Vybírám si” is itended for young people between 18 and 30 age. The challenge is open not only for professional but also for amateur or starting designer. The best results will be award 170, 100 or 70 EUR (it depends on finally position). Winner design is going to print on T-Shirts (500 pieces). During months April and May will be concerts, where these T-Shirts will be distribute.

Design1

Graphic may attractive and originally way appeal to goal groups of young people (up to 30 age) and motivate them come to elections. Theme may express possibility free choice ever citizen in elections and power each of votes. After read article, I said: “Ouujéé”. First I am going to try some exiting design ;-) and this is the best way how show young people different point of view to EU.

Design2

All participants get knowledge about EU (at least they know fact, that some elections will be ;-) and new modern, intersting, beautiful design plus actions like concerts is more access than paper, books, presentations.
