Th!nkers moving to Rome

As I launched this blog some days ago talking about the importance of educating European citizens on European issues, I have a surprise today for all of you. Every pupil had his excursions at school, and tomorrow we will have our own trip on the search of Europe. Tomorrow we will meet the Y Vote Team from Aegee Europe in Rome, and from 7th to 12th February we will take part in the 4th conference of this ambitious project about European issues and elections for European Parliament, specially addressed to the young first voters.

If you are curious, can’t wait to be digitally there, you can have a look here on how our conference will look like:

We will be dealing with a very important topic for us: Education, jobs and mobility in the European Union (booklet of the conference available on this link). How important can be to implement concrete subjects on European citizenship all around the EU-members? Do I have any help or guaranties coming from the European Union when I finish my studies and try to move and find a job, being a European in a member where I’m not a national?

Me, as a participant, with the other 39 students and the organising team, will have the opportunity to meet different MEPs, not only from Italy, and ask them this questions. At the same time, we will try to bring our ideas to formal outcomes in several thematic workshops, and finally the work will be put into practice in creative and street actions. I’m sure there will be many things to report and discuss here.

For preparing the week, I would like to ask you for collaboration. Just try to thinks about the topics I will write down next, and be ready to discuss them when presenting outcomes.

-lifelong/lifewide learning

-Youth employment and social integration

-Entrepeneurship and innovativeness

-Flexicurity and reconciling work and family life

-New jobs and Mobility in the EU

At the same time, I would also like to ask you for questions you should have for the MEPs, and I will try to bring you the answers back during or after the conference.

You see, Europe is a very dynamic reality, which we have to find and redefine constantly. If we don’t do it ourselves, who should do it for us?

Th!nk about it, and let me know.

Maybe you can ask Italian MEP’s about their comments on Italian immigration policy and treatment of minorities…

I love all the newest ones that are out now. If you go back a few years then I think the whole industry was in the doldrums. I think now they have really upped their game to keep us more interested. I cant wait for some of the big blockbusters this summer.
