Before diving into the abyss that is European politics, some videomaterial on the organisers and efforts they have been making to facilitate the competition.
Wilfried Rütten, the director of the European Journalism Centre, tells us something about the idea and first steps towards organising the event.
So.. too many Dutchies eh?
Well, in keeping with many of my compatriots’ bad education and general rudeness abroad and at home, a fun little video - strong language warning - illustrating the less proud sides of the Netherlands’ population.
Anne Autio, also from the EJC, told me something about the selection process, independence and moderating, and the issue of European Commission funding - raising some controversy in some places: here, here and here for example - all reactions to a blogpost by BBC’s Mark Mardell, who spoke at the conference.
The huge distrust towards media and journalists apparently existing at least among some of Mark Mardell’s followers, makes you wonder how much we can really do towards engendering lively debate on the Elections. I for one will be trying to spice up my posts a bit with interesting video and audio material - trying to give the mindboggingly boring technical issues some juice and salience. Hope you all enjoy.
How did you get the Youtube embedded? Thought you were having issues with it?
Yeah, major issues. What happened I think was what andreas said; that it wasn’t fully functional yet. Arne Grauls sent me a mail, and then it was no problem pasting it in the HTML-editor. So everything probably should be working now!
yayz!
Hey! Could someone give me some more information on how to embed a video, because I’m still having problems doing it…
Hey Etan, I made a post about it on the community site, find it here.
In short; in your post textwindow, select the tab HTML (right upper corner) instead of Visual. There you can paste the HTML-embed-code. Good luck!
Thanks Simon - got the video up finally: http://elections.thinkaboutit.eu/2009/02/we-are-dancing-bloggers/

Nice Simon,
Go on with your critical questions and your Whaha laugh!
